Knowledge

Knowing exactly what to do can be a challenge in any new situation. As a person who cares about others, cares about things being done correctly, and knows where to find answers it becomes easier.

The office of Nelson County Clerk has many roles. The responsibilities are laid out in KRS Chapters KRS 62.020, 67.100, 116, 117, 118, 118A, 120, 382.300, 133.220 and KRS 67.120

The day-to-day activities require someone who can manage their time and others well. It also requires someone who works with others to create desired solutions, and who will put others first in order to succeed.  These are traits that I possess. Their are many opportunities to improve the operations of an office that is here to serve the people of all of Nelson County.

Abilities

Customer service is an attitude not an ability. I do want to say a couple words about Customer Service here though. When you think about how business is done in 2010, one of the things that always comes up is convenience. There are several different ways to make things in the Clerk’s office more convenient. More flexible hours, electronic funds transfers, genealogical records online, even just seeing hours of operation, less busy times, and Saturday hours could make your life a lot easier. You need to do business when YOU want to do business. This is a Service position, accuracy and legality will never be compromised. Please help make a difference this November.

I have been training and developing both private and public sector employees for over 20 years. My ability to use technology to make things more efficient and more user-friendly is what I want to bring to the office of Nelson County Clerk. Both my education and work experience in HR issues, budgeting, personnel and training are pivotal in the future success of this office. In working with both private and public personnel and customers I know that people want a transparent government that meets their needs in both a competent and friendly manner. I believe that I have the personnel, financial, and management skills in order to best serve the citizens of Nelson County.

  1. Hello Dwight:
What a great and informative website. I am very pleased and impressed with your insight about the primary election and that you wish for only good things for the Democratic candidates. Like you said, let’s hope that everyone conducts themselves with honesty and integrity and don’t resort to negativity. Great job! I hope to be the one that you will run against. Wish me luck. Thanks again for the great website and the opportunity to respond.
